Since 1983, Oxford Technology Management (OTM) has specialised in making and managing investments in start-up and early stage technology-based businesses with high growth prospects. In total, we have made more than 150 investments in technology start-ups. Almost all of them are within an hour’s drive of Oxford, so that we can be actively involved to help. The OTM investment team are all scientists or engineers by background, and understanding the technology is the starting point for any investment that we make.
Founder and Managing Director
Lucius Cary is the founder and managing director of Oxford Technology. He has a degree in engineering and economics from Oxford University, an MBA from Harvard Business School and was an engineering apprentice at the Atomic Energy Research Establishment, Harwell.
After forming and raising finance for his first business in 1972, he founded "Venture Capital Report" in 1978 and was its managing director for 17 years. In March 1996, he became chairman and reduced his day-to-day involvement in order to concentrate more fully on Oxford Technology Management's investment activities. Oxford Technology Management raised its first fund to invest in start-up and early-stage technology companies in 1983. In 2003, he was awarded an OBE for services to business.

Andrea Mica graduated from the Delft University of Technology with an MSc in Industrial Design Engineering, and went on for a further graduate study in Innovation and Creativity at the State University College of New York at Buffalo.
He has a strong and varied background in technology prior to joining Oxford Technology – both promoting technologies for sale, and identifying new technologies to invest in.
He also has an entrepreneurial streak – most recently he co-founded CleanSteel Ltd, a company that has developed a new technique for recycling waste products from the tyre industry.

A proven business leader with the ability to drive vision, strategy, and execution, with an approach to marketing that is very realistic, results-oriented, building a solid franchise based on real value and customer satisfaction.
Spearheaded major wins for Synopsys in IC design software implementation and exceeded revenue targets. Extensive product management experience working with a cross-functional team across R&D, engineering, sales, corporate communications, legal, and finance.
Key expertise: Strategy development, mergers and acquisitions, large multinational organization and business management, product marketing, product line rationalization for revenue growth, enterprise software development, semiconductor product management (high-performance computing, mobile, automotive, AI).
Possess an entrepreneurial mindset, worked in multiple startups and delivered quick results. Holds a Ph.D. degree in Electronics from the University of Edinburgh.
Investment Analyst (China)
Chenjie has an MEng from St John’s College, University of Oxford. She has worked as an Investment Director for E2Exchange, an Equity Research Analyst for BGR Asset Managements, a Trader Trainee for Marex Spectron, a Private Equity Summer Analyst for Spring Ventures and a Summer Consultant for Ove Arup & Partners.
In 2017, Chenjie moved back to China to set up OT China, helping Oxford Technology investees find manufacturing, sales and investment in China. She is also acting as the interim CEO for Sime, China.
Rachel has a first-class MSci in Materials Science from the University of Cambridge. She has worked in Advanced Ceramics at Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg and the 1st Physics Institute at University of Goettingen.
She was a Technology Analyst specialized in researching the 3D printing industry at the business intelligence consultancy, IDTechEx. Then, she led the prototyping division at the product design consultancy, Oxford Product Design. She joined Oxford Technology as an Investment Analyst in November 2017.
